Mousetrap Car Home

By Lawrence Irvin

This is a website about how I made my mousetrap car and how it performed in the testing.  The first thing you should know is that this is not the best or even a very good design for a mousetrap car.  My design allowed my car to move almost five meters in the gym where it was tested.  In comparison, one of the other cars in my class went about fifty meters.  The major flaw that I had in the design was that the lever arm that the string was attached too was not long enough, which is essential to making a mousetrap car go for long distances.  Another, less problematic flaw in the design was that I used balsa wood for the body of the car and it broke very easily.  The final product was the sixth time I had rebuilt the car, and even then it was held together only with hot glue, otherwise the back axle would have fallen off.

Sources:  I used instructibles.com as my main source, I also used other student’s mousetrap car websites from previous years.
