Instructions for Peer Response:

I am asking you to do THREE peer responses.  Go to the E5-2 forum, open a peer's essay, and hit REPLY to do your peer response. Please follow the peer response questions below and number your responses. (You can do a fourth response for extra-credit.) Look, in particular, for people who do not yet have three peer response as you choose who to respond to.

Peer Response Questions: Draft 5-1

1) Check for structure in the author's "This I Believe" piece
--Can you see a clear Opening (Introduction) that ends with the thesis or statement of belief?  Sometimes the thesis is stated in the first line. If you see this happen, does the thesis work there?
--Is there a middle section or "Body" that elaborates on or supports the belief?

--Can you spot a clear closing that wraps up the discussion?
Comment on any of these three parts of the piece.

2) Openings and Closings are important (and hard to write).  Comment on the author's beginning—does it catch your attention and interest? If it doesn't, how could they create a more engaging opener?  Does the closing wrap up the discussion for you? Does it leave you with something to take away from the piece with?

3) Middles—For the Body of the essay, can you make any suggestions to help the examples work better?

Author's Review

Instructions for doing your Author's Review

Do your Author's Review AFTER you have received peer response (if you have none, go ahead, but wait at least until the time for peer response is over) and BEFORE you have begun revising your essay in earnest.

Author Review 5-2 Topic:
What did the peer response you received help you see about your draft so far? What do you feel you still are struggling with in this piece? Think about the ultimate purpose for the piece and where it will go (KSTX)—what else do you need to do to achieve your desired effect upon your audience?
